Boards & Committees

Did you know that the Town has 9 Active Committees? And they are all always in the need for committee members. Our Committees are:

PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS COMMITTEE (P&I) – Reference Chapter 4

This committee is responsible for reviewing applications for permits, issue permits, works with the building official. Committee Meets Monthly on the 2d Wednesday of the Month.

TOWN REVIEW BOARD (TRB) – Reference Ordinance 2007-01

The Committee is designed to maintain those features of residential neighborhoods specifically identified by Town residents and the Town Commission as core community values. Meets as needed.

BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE – Reference Resolution 2009-06

The committee report on methods, concepts, and specific plans to improve the general appearance of the planting and landscaping of public property in Melbourne Village. Meets monthly on the 3rd Monday.

NEIGHBORING AGENCY RELATIONS COMMITTEE – Reference Resolution 2011-03

This committee reports on issues, development, regulations, and problems arising from neighboring municipalities, the County, and other agencies abutting or of near impact on the Town of Melbourne Village. Currently working with the Melbourne Airport. Meets monthly on the 1st Monday.

FINANCE COMMITTEE – Reference Charter

This committee is also responsible for submitting a proposed annual budget to the commission for consideration. Meets Monthly on the Wednesday PRIOR to the Commission Meeting.

PLANNING AND ZONING/LPA (P&Z) – Reference Chapter 15

This committee conducts the comprehensive planning program and prepare the comprehensive plan or elements or portions thereof for the Town of Melbourne Village. Meets as needed.

HISTORICAL PRESERVATION COMMISSION (HPC) – Reference Chap 2

The HPC conducts an ongoing educational program on historic sites and important events and personalities related to Melbourne Village. Conducts the Annual Historic Walk. Meets monthly on the 1st Thursday of the Month.

BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS (BOA) – Reference Chapter 23

The board of adjustment Hear and decide applications for such special exceptions hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision or

CODE ENFORCEMENT - Reference Chapter 2

This committee is designed to enforce town codes, including, but not limited to, occupational license, fire, building, zoning, litter, environmental, animal control, abandoned property, land use and sign codes and ordinances. Meets as needed.
